Dear readers
Hope you are doing well.
On my wedding anniversary today, I penned a poem..one that speaks of universal intervention in the way my husband Marshall and I met..how we had exchanged vows with each other on one 26th day of this month of January over two decades ago, without ever having met in person. The first time we met in person, we married each other in Assam, India. He travelled across the world to marry me. A transnational, interracial, intercultural union...one could say, the biggest risk anyone could take! We would not trade this journey for anything or anyone else...with the good, the bad, the ugly, all included. We face our own demons, share our strengths, lift each other up, support each unconditionally, understand the weaknesses and frailties of being human, and we continue. We are both teachers and students to each other. For me, this journey continually enables me to understand myself and to come home to my inner self/my inner child.... the essential, eternal truth. I am thankful. We are thankful.

Much love, warmth and appreciation

Years ago
never having seen
nor met
each other
we had exchanged vows
on this day
in the ether
invisible bonds
strong at its core
a certain knowingness
from only a few months
of friendship
virtually defined
in the air
a coming together
a surety,
designed, intervened
by unseen, intangible forces
across cultures
and spaces
impossibilities
and conventions
we united as strangers
as partners on a path
choosing and recognizing
freely and flowingly
an unknown familiarity
comprehensible,
unexplainable
today's date
brings with it
reflections
on a union
that time and again
brings us
home
to the innermost self
for the purpose
and pursuit
of knowing another
is to find oneself
and turmoil
love and hope
this mix of
swirling thoughts
often opposing
doubtful yet sure
facing demons
waging battles
alone and together
beautiful, ugly
mundane and special
Intertwined completely
a rare sense
this time
repeatedly brings
reassuring and timeless
trustful amid frailties
where breaking points
solidify and consolidate
an unbreakable lovingness
allowing for acknowledgment
for all that is
and what could have been
perhaps what will again be
of possibilities and potential
and thankfulness
for a gift given
by the universe
in its perfection
home garden...roses and thorns
